Bikes on Flights
Flying Machines
All major airlines require that bicycles be transported in boxes not exceeding 60 inches in length. There are two options: using either a carboard bicycle box which you should be able to source from your local bike shop for free if you ask nicely or investing in a hardshell case for your bike.

Assembly Stations
Airports are increasingly providing bicycle assembly stations, a type of bike station, making it alot easier to take your bike apart before flying and to put it back once you've arrived at your destination or vacation starting point.
Such stations include a wall-mounted clip similar to those found on bicycle repair stands to hold the bike steady while wheels, pedals and other components are mounted or removed using tethered tools.
